The Department of Food Science in NPU integrates the trainings of the food scientific knowledge and biology estate technology. For assistance of the Penghu local food industries, the department focuses on knowledge education, practical trains, scientific researches, and manufacture managements. Wtih these essences, it is expected for students that improve their related food science specialties and competition.
The Department of Food Science in NPU demarcates four major programs including inspective analysis, biotechnology practice, product development, and food marking and manufacture management. These schemes operate in coordination not only with manufactory plant management, quality control techniques, new product development and biotechnology applications, but also food marketing and circulation that is by way of the Manufactory-Commerce program.
ĦiFACULTY AND FACILITIESĦj
The faculty of the Department of Food science in NUP is full with experiences either in researches or in practical. The Department also engages many related industry talents as adjunct instructors to strengthen the current related industrial experiences for students. The Department institutes specialized laboratory including the food assay and analyses laboratory, the microbiology laboratory, the biotechnology and food-processing plant, the aqua products management electrolyzed researching center, the bakery processing plant, the Chinese and Western cosines practice laboratory, the chemistry laboratory, and the biology laboratory which they are equipped with modern machinery and instruments. The Department also exploits the food processing plant which is administered by the Penghu farmers' association to provide more tightly practical training among students.

Students graduated from the Department of Food Science in NPU could work as members of QC, R&D, marketing and management field in related food, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry. They also can pursuit further education in the Graduate school in related sciences.

The development of The Department of Food Science in NPU is based on ocean resources development and applications. The Department assists agriculture and fishery resources appliance and development in the Penghu region by way of outreach services and project researches. The Department positively establishes related research centre and the graduate school for the purpose of the key-center of ocean-resource application in Taiwan.
